At this particular moment in time I am cranky, hungry, and itchy. Two of the three are due to jetlag and overdoing it a bit last night, while the third is the result of my fervent sun-worshipping of the past two weeks.
Went to a house party last night. Had a good time. Teased some Kiwis about improper behavior with sheep. Tried to make beer-ritas but failed miserably due to unavailable ingredients. Regardless of the successfulness of the beer-rita attempt, tequila is still a mighty force to be reckoned with, and I've spent most of today in bed since there's no Sean around to talk me into going roller skating down to the marina for an ice cream cone.
Okay. So I'm going to try and do a quick rundown of this year's Doheny festivities. First things first: I AM A BRONZE GODDESS!! Living in London has taught me to make the best of sunshine when it appears since you don't know how long it'll last, and I put that to good use over the two gorgeous weeks of near-perfect weather that we had. Unfortunately, new bathing suit = new tan lines, so there are a couple of spots that got sunburned and are now peeling and itchy. Small price to pay.
I'm going to nickname this year as Doheny Roller Fest 2008. My new roller skates saw a lot of action, and everybody that didn't already have a pair went out and got some. Good times. And I only fell down once, and that was during the hungover jaunt up past the marina to the tidepools. And I'm still surprised I made that journey at all since I should've been curled up in the fetal position in my tent, sleeping off the night before.
I want a burrito. Right now.
Anyway, it was also a year for patching up old differences. Which was good. I feel less heavy, though settling old grudges has opened up space for some other unwelcome feelings to weasel their way back into my head. I suppose you can't win 'em all though, and it's more tiring to hate somebody than it is to redevelop an old crush. Thankfully I live thousands of miles away, otherwise those thoughts might be allowed to play out. Whew.
Damn. I'm running out of steam. Jetlag sucks. Especially when I decide to sleep when the mood takes me rather than try and get back onto a schedule. Oh well.
More later.....
