Study break!

Having spent many hours this weekend wandering through Freud and doing other less-than-appealing activities (another grand 4-hour ironing session), I figure it's time for a study break. I've learned lots of important things this weekend, most importantly that I focus better when there's pizza and diet coke. Old habits I suppose from living in the dorms. Although I will say dorm rooms are more conducive to sitting at your computer with a 2-liter and a large pizza. My dorm room had both a mini-fridge AND a microwave, so the soda was always cold while the pizza was not. I've managed to work out a way to keep the soda cold without putting it in the fridge downstairs (it's sitting on my windowsill out in the frigid night air), but I can't think of any similar solution for the pizza. Maybe if I put the pizza box on the radiator. Only problem is, I think that'll really make my room smell like pepperoni. No thanks. I'll just put up with eating it cold.

Enough about my terrible studying eating habits.

I did finally manage to get myself a swanky new phone. Next order of business is to get it unlocked so I don't have to buy yet another phone for vacations back home. It's pretty.

Gave Sonja a hand on Friday with these two massive light fixtures she was making for this bar mitzvah she event-planned for. Spent a day in various unflattering positions, much to the amusement and delight of the 8 or so construction-type fellas that were also at work makng scenery pieces for the bar mitzvah (chippies, for all my UK readers). Add "The Brittany Grin" to the frequent bending over and being down on all fours, and you've got a one-two punch that no man over 30 can resist. Especially if he's a blue collar boy. I had fun giggling to myself all day. And took pride in the fact that I knew more song lyrics than Sonja. Which finally clued me in to where Conrad gets his annoying habit of making up complete nonsense song lyrics when he doesn't actually know them. They both do it at top volume too. As my dad always quotes at me: "It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. But I may just be overly-judgmental because it's late and Freud makes me cranky/amuses me to no end.

Took my roller skates out for their inaugural run on Saturday. It was a lot harder that I thought it was going to be since I didn't take into account the bumpy conditions of London sidewalks. I had so much fun that I've decided to bring them back to California with me. Go cruising down the bike path at HB. Something.

Fat Cat has now joined me. She's just discovered the pizza box and is sad she can't get into it.

You know, now that I think about it, this live-in nanny gig is really reminiscent of a few aspects of dorm life. I have to share a kitchen and a bathroom with way too many other people, all of whom do not respect my privacy. When I'm at home I'm usually in my room with the door shut, and I frequently choose to eat in my room as well as do my homework up here just to escape everyone else. The only thing really missing is a trampy roommate who always seemed to have a sock on the doorknob when I came back to the room and wanted to go to sleep.

Yep. It's the Freud.

Okay, break time is over. Back to it. Catch you later....
